We are Carol and Robert Ames and we love Dorset.
Having lived and worked in Dorset for over 20 years and always being passionate about using local suppliers and shops, it was only natural when we began the white house in 2006 that we would stick to those principles.
All our bacon comes from Pampered Pigs in Bere Regis, our sausages are made for us by Hannams Butchers in Lychett Matravers, the eggs are laid by our girls in the garden, and the local milkman delivers our milk and dairy products.
We grow some of our own fruit and veg and buy loads of stuff from Vines Farm Shop in Sturminster Marshal – and if we get the chance to get out from Washingpool Farm Shop in Bridport. Our bread is baked by Cowdrys Bakery in Wimborne Minster, and our fish comes from Greenslades on Poole Quay. Toiletries are also local; from Lush (founded and based in Poole) and lovely soap by Kate at The Purbeck Soap Company.
We always try to create a relaxed atmosphere: breakfast is freshly cooked to order and along with an extensive menu of cooked items we have a help-yourself buffet with organic cereals, juices, yoghurts and pastries. Special diets are always well catered for and both soy and gluten-free options are available.
Our aim is to lessen our impact on the environment, so we provide brown paper bags for recyclables and compostables for your convenience.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home!
